Default armor set numbers like weapons

Wasn't sure how to word the title. lol Anyway, you know how you can drag weapon sets to bubbles on the bottom of the screen so you can have multiple weapons at once without taking up inventory and storage space? Wouldn't it be great if you could do the same thing with armor?

My idea is that there would be the same bubbles like the weapon ones (where you click the bubble and automatically equip the assigned weapon), only with armor. There would be a limit of course, but it could probably help clean up storage space. Armor combos could be allowed, you'd just have to choose what goes where. And you can always edit them later. Since you have an option of four weapon sets, I'd say maybe double that for armor. What does everyone else think?

Not a bad idea, except the last part, being "Since you have an option of four weapon sets, I'd say maybe double that for armor."

If the option is for armor set and not armor pieces, I don't think you need eight armor sets. I would say half of weapon sets, meaning 2 armor sets, which is plenty for me thats for sure. 3 or 4 armor sets wouldn't hurt though, but eight?

An interesting idea. One clarification though: I assume you mean the little bubbles you can (by default) hit like F1 or F2 to change weapon sets? Those aren't extra inventory; they still are either equipped in your "hand" slots or are in your pack somewhere. Are you suggesting they be turned *into* extra storage?

Other than the need for extra storage space (for armour in particular) I don't see the need for this, armour swapping isn't a big deal.

Uhm, like weapon swapping, it does not clear space. It just sets a bind or combination for weapons when you click on the particular set. The weapon is still in your backpack/storage but marked.

What lawrence said.

Having 4 weapon sets doesn't save storage space, those items ARE SILL IN YOUR INVENTORY they aren't just floating off in space waiting to be clicked on. So they don't save any space, nor would Armor Sets, in fact if you want to swap a whole set of armor you need that ENTIRE set in you backpack inventory.

Not to mention in PvP you CAN NOT swap armor, so this would requirte additional coding by the devs for this to NOT take affect whilst in PvP areas, much like some skills do now. This is time I would much rather have the one or two Devs still working on GW1 spend on the more inportant issues of GW1 not uselessness.

4 X2 is 8 armor slots. 5 armor pieces per slot. Thats over 40 slots in your inventory just to hold armor.

Swapping armor configurations together with weapon sets was a part of the game in the betas but they dropped the idea. I remember that in action and I'm happy with their decision.

Armor swaps for PvP are absuridiculous, we had manual swapping available for way too long, so lets not come back to that.

And for PvE it's unnecessary, it's practically extra instantly available power as long as you keep all the sets with you - 1 key to wear high hp armor set with no sup runes when taking the beats, then 1 key to swap to high energy efficient casting armor, then a high +armor vs something set when needed...
Yes, you can do it manually but it takes so much time and hassle that it's rarely an advanrage in combat.

The a possibility for someone macro'ing whole armor sets swaps shouldn't be an argument - that's not quite legit

Only useful for pvp or elite farmers. Would not benefit the average player.

The idea of this armor set cleaning up you inventory/storage is flawed, since when you swap weapon sets, you exchange them with the weapon you have in your inventory, you dont get extra slots to carry them around.

Making characters incapable of swapping armor in combat makes sense, since you'd have to be Jackie Chan just to change your clothes in the middle of a fight, let alone changing armor. They were right to fix it for PvP.

If you were suggesting some sort of armor set exchange template for loading an armor set, where it would check your storage and load the specific armor that you have in there, that would be cool.

But that's not what you're asking for.

Wrong. They still take up inventory space. So an armor one would be completely stupid if it still takes up space.

I'll /sign this, however, I would definitely like to see a armor storage.

Adding 'bubbles' to store armor it's just like adding more inventory space. And we know we are hardly getting that.

As I always say, unlocking is the answer, not storing.

Oh, armor storage is something completely different than this idea, and that's actually very much needed.

Mithran and I are the voice of reasoning on storage ideas. Coming up with new creative ways to store something (in bags... in bubbles) doesn't change the fundamental design flaw and magically decrease the server space it requires to store that data.

And since armor swaping is disabled in PvP (the only place where this would actually see real use), this idea is pointless.

QFT.

Every bit of data that is your online account costs ANet money to store. When you max out your storage, you make your player file bigger serverside. ANet pays to keep your file active and available whenever you play, so it costs them omney to store your file, and whatever backups they have to store.

Right now, anything that costs ANet money is not worth Anet adding to the game, unless players are going to spend money to add that feature to their account.

ANet is putting their money into GW2, so I'd suggest when you make a suggestion on something that "would be cool", you plan on something that: can be removed from GW1 to make something better, or suggest stuff for GW2, which we have NO idea what is going to be the norm over there

Dare to dream... I'm sure the developers can ignore you for GW2 stuff at least as well as they ignore you now.

I know this, I was just saying that we need more storage for armour.
